A CLIMATE FOR LEARNING:
A TEACHER’S GUIDE TO CREATING AN EMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT CLASSROOM
In The First Four Days of School

“Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” Aristotle
I was a high school math teacher for seventeen years. I was nominated for the distinctive educator of the Berkshires due to my classroom practices which included meditation, and the use of a CORE marking rubric. Unlike most of my peers, I take the first four days of the new school year to sow the hearts of my students with seeds of possibility, confidence, hope and care. These first four days of school are an investment for the rest of the school year. By investing in a little risk- taking, stepping out of your comfort zone and trying new things you may revolutionize the way you teach and the way your students learn.
In this easy to read book you will find resources, ideas and perspectives born out of the classroom experience for you to consider, try and modify for your classroom.
The following images are resources from my book. Feel free to use and adapt for your classes and students.
